The Maker Store had the privilege to be involve in some of the art works at Luminance Art Light Festival 2012 that was held at Scape Orchard. With many artists from all walks of life coming to showcase their art, it is one festival that is not to be missed!
The very first Luminance project that got us involved is " Everyday Aspiration " by artist Karen Mitchell.
365 plywood stencils were laser cut out with different words to represent an aspiration for each day, lights were used to project the shadows onto the wall to form this grand piece of art.
Other artworks that The Maker Store is involved in are The Luminous Impression of The Canopy by Artist Phillippe Liveneau.
The artwork was laser cut from 12 separate pieces of plywood and joined together to form the final piece.
We really look forward to being part of this event again in the future, cheers!
One of the very first project that we embarked on was to create a series of objects for a Final Year Project (FYP). Kenneth, a young and talented individual, came to us for help in fabricating his metal objects. It was kind of funny how he found us since we only published our website for like less than a week or so, even he himself wasn't sure how he found out about The Maker Store.
He had some pretty neat ideas of different ways a person can interact with lights & switches. And one particular favorite of mine is the one where a match stick was dispensed after pressing on a switch and when the matchstick is struck and brought close to a giant light bulb , a sensor inside the object senses the fire and light up the bulb.
So he gave us a few general drawings and dimensions, and we did the rest. We custom fabricated the metal objects and powder coated them in light grey. Other than the metal fabrication parts, he needed a few other things as well, such as some laser cut to size acrylic panels for lighting and shelving, a giant light switch (nobody sells such huge switches) which we custom made, and a matchstick dispenser (custom made as well).
At The Maker Store, we try to be the place that assist you in your creations, so that you can concentrate on your ideas and designs. This process of creation is what we do and enjoy doing , and it is always a pleasure to be involved in creative projects like this one.
And lastly, thanks for the support Kenneth!
